SolarProjectFunding connects qualified solar project sponsors with capital providers that finance late-stage development, construction and operating portfolios. The focus is on bankable projects, verifiable data and capital structures that match project risk.
Professional sponsors and qualified investors only. No retail investors.
You are building and operating assets, not concepts. You need capital that reflects your permits, contracts, grid position and delivery track record.SolarProjectFunding is designed for developers and IPPs with defined projects and portfolios, a clear path to NTP and COD, and documentation that can withstand institutional credit review.
Typical developer profiles:
Utility scale and commercial and industrial solar developers with completed or advanced projects
IPPs building portfolios of ground mount, rooftop or carport assets
Aggregators with pipelines of smaller sites that can be financed on a portfolio basis
Typical requirements:
Late-stage development funding to reach NTP
Construction and bridge facilities for projects with PPAs, auctions or feed-in tariffs
Sponsor equity, mezzanine capital and back leverage at or after COD
Portfolio refinancing and take-out solutions once projects are de-risked
Sponsors are expected to provide sites, permits, offtake documentation, grid studies, EPC and O&M terms and a coherent financial model. The platform’s role is to present this in a form that a credit or investment committee can review efficiently.
You are seeking exposure to solar projects where technical assumptions, contracts and financial projections are documented and the sponsor is prepared for detailed diligence.
SolarProjectFunding works with:
Project finance lenders and commercial banks
Debt funds and private credit investors focused on energy and infrastructure
Infrastructure and energy funds acquiring SPV or holdco equity
Family offices and long term investors allocating to real assets through structured transactions
Capital providers can expect:
Curated individual projects and portfolios, not early-stage ideas
Screening by country, grid, project size, offtake structure and stage of development
Data rooms anchored in a concise summary followed by full documentation
Sponsors who understand conditions precedent, covenants and ongoing reporting requirements
You define ticket size, target returns and mandate parameters. The platform is there to improve deal selection and information flow, not to replace underwriting discipline.
Submit Project Or Capital Profile
Developers submit a project or portfolio with core information: jurisdiction, location, capacity, technology, stage, permits, offtake, grid status, EPC and O&M terms, capex, financial model and funding requirement. Capital providers define country and size ranges, preferred structures, minimum return thresholds and risk constraints.
Projects are reviewed against minimum criteria. That includes internal consistency of capex and revenue assumptions, availability of land and permit documentation, offtake and grid evidence and a realistic capital structure. A structured summary is prepared. Full models and supporting files sit behind that summary.
Compatible capital providers receive anonymised summaries that match their stated mandate. Where interest is confirmed, NDAs are executed and controlled access is granted to the full data pack and financial model. Management calls are scheduled once both parties confirm that the project is within scope.
Term sheets, loan agreements, equity documents and security packages are negotiated and executed through regulated banks, funds, trustees and legal counsel. SolarProjectFunding remains in the arranging and coordination role. Funding flows directly between capital providers and the relevant project SPVs or holding entities.
Construction loans and revolving credit facilities
Long term project finance at or after COD
Mezzanine and holdco level debt
Back leverage secured on contracted portfolios
Sponsor equity top-ups to reach required thresholds
Co-equity for IPPs seeking to maintain control while sharing risk
Preferred and structured equity with defined distribution waterfalls
Share pledges over project SPVs and holding companies
Security over project assets and assignments of key contracts and accounts
Pledges over DSRA, PPA receivables and insurance proceeds
Priority is given to structures that can be explained clearly, documented cleanly and monitored over the life of the project.
Projects that are suitable for SolarProjectFunding share common characteristics.
Late-stage development with a credible path to NTP
Under-construction projects requiring completion capital
Operating assets and portfolios seeking refinancing or expansion capital
PPAs with creditworthy utilities, corporates or public entities
Auction awards and feed-in tariffs with clear tariff and tenor profiles
Merchant exposure only where there is a credible hedging or offtake strategy
Bankable technology and experienced EPC and O&M providers
Land, permitting and environmental matters in good order
Defined grid connection status and realistic timelines
Ticket sizes appropriate for professional capital providers
Focus on markets where project finance for renewables is active or emerging
Projects at concept stage without land, permits, grid clarity or a structured development plan are outside the remit of the platform.
| For Developers | For Capital Providers |
|---|---|
| Convert a dispersed set of files into a coherent investment case | Reduce time spent on incomplete and under-prepared proposals |
| Reach capital providers that already allocate to solar and understand project risk | Review projects that have passed an initial quality and documentation filter |
| Shorten the path between being technically ready and receiving credible term sheets | Access financial models and documents in a consistent, repeatable format |
The platform cannot compensate for weak fundamentals, unrealistic pricing or inadequate documentation. Its purpose is to make strong projects easier to evaluate and to give capital providers a clearer view of where to deploy time and resources.
Provide detail on your organisation, project pipeline or investment mandate, and whether you are raising capital or allocating capital. You will receive next steps for onboarding, documentation and access to relevant opportunities.
